A
Statement from the Stop & Shop Supermarket Company
Sunday March 11, 5:10 pm ET
QUINCY, Mass., March 11 /PRNewswire/ -- Stop & Shop is pleased to announce we
have reached new bargaining agreements with our five New England UFCW locals.
The agreements were ratified by union membership in meetings held earlier today.
As the only predominantly unionized supermarket chain operating in Connecticut,
Massachusetts and Rhode Island, Stop & Shop's goal during the negotiating
process was to reach agreements with competitive terms that will allow us to
remain the leading supermarket in the marketplace. We believe these new
contracts meet our goal and provide significantly improved wages and benefits.
We thank our customers and our associates for their patience and understanding
during the negotiating period and look forward to continuing to serve New
England and offer our customers a great shopping experience for many years to
come.
